Intramuros administrator leads new appointees
President Marcos has appointed a new administrator of the Intramuros Administration (IA). Malacañang disclosed that Marcos has tapped Joan Masilang Padilla as the new administrator of the IA, an attached agency of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Padilla replaced Edgardo Baysic, who served as the organization's officer-in-charge.
The IA was established in 1979 by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1616.
It is tasked to protect and conserve the historical and cultural value and significance of Intramuros while advancing and guiding its urban development.
It is responsible for the orderly restoration and development of Intramuros as a monument to the Hispanic period of the country's history.
Padilla was among the new Marcos appointees announced by the Presidential Communications Office on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Aside from the IA, the President also made appointments at the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
Marcos tapped Romulo Victoria Arugay as the new chairman of the CFO, an agency under the Office of the President.
He also designated Mario Imperial Molina as an acting member of the board of trustees of the GSIS.
Last week, Marcos also appointed several government officials to various positions such as the Office of the Senior Deputy Executive Secretary under the Office of the President, Social Security Commission of the Social Security System, Philippine Competition Commission, and Development Bank of the Philippines.
The President, however, has yet to appoint a new Health Secretary. The department only has an acting chief since he assumed the presidency last year.
