CEBU CITY – A 30-yearold man died after he allegedly rammed the motorcycle he was driving into a multicab in Barangay Camputhaw here on Tuesday morning, May 16.

Gleven Karry Garces, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, died on the spot.

Police said the incident happened around 10 a.m. along Juana Osmeña St.

The driver of the van-type multicab, Derrick Trance, told reporters that he saw the motorcycle encroaching the opposite lane while running at high speed.

Trance said that when he saw the motorcycle was heading to his direction, he immediately stepped on the brakes.

He said he had stopped when the motorcycle hit the left side of the multicab.

The impact threw Garces on the ground.

Garces’s live-in partner arrived in the area shortly after the accident.

Michelle Baclayon said that she and Garces had a fight before the accident.

She said Garces picked her up at her home but they got into an argument while along the way.

Michelle said she insisted on alighting from the motorcycle because they didn’t have helmets while they were aboard the motorcycle.

She got off the motorcycle when they reached Juana Osmeña St.

When the woman alighted from the motorcycle, the argument did not stop. Garces even laid on the ground at one point, Baclayon said.

Baclayon said she asked Garces to drive off and later learned that he got into an accident.

The woman said she suspected that Garces intentionally rammed the motorcycle into the multicab.

According to the woman, Garces had been complaining that he was already tired of his life.
