3 ‘flying voters’ in Binondo
One of the isolated cases during the BSKE was the arrest in Binondo, Manila of three suspected flying voters.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said the suspects, whose names were not disclosed, are not Manila residents.
According to the police report, the incident occurred inside a polling precinct at Raja Soliman High School in Urbiztondo, Binondo at around 11 a.m. on Oct. 30.
Police said poll watchers went to the designated police assistance desk in the area to report the three men who allegedly attempted to vote using names of other voters.
Election staff noted that the suspects provided the wrong personal details during registration, one reason they were suspected as flying voters. Investigators said a cellphone, with the names of the four persons running for kagawad who the suspects were supposed to vote for in exchange for ₱500, was also seized from them.
The arrested suspects were charged with violation of Article 22, Section 261, of the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines and are currently detained at the MPD detention cell.
