-

In a bid to expand its power and network infrastructures in Luzon, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC) broke ground for its second facility in its Cavite data center campus on Monday, Nov. 6. STT Cavite 2 is a two-storey building spanning 4,500 square meters that is able to deliver up to six megawatts of total information technology (IT) capacity. It is connected to two power substations, as well as has ready connections to STT Makati. These connections will enable access to varying selections of network service providers, online transactions, and submarine cable systems. It will be constructed according to the standards of the TIA-942 Certification Rated-3, covering telecommunications infrastructure, site location, building architecture and structure, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, fire safety and physical security. STT Cavite 2 is expected to be operational by mid-2025. With the completion of the Cavite data center, STT GDC will have a total of seven data centers. “As the Philippines sets its sights on a digital future and rapidly expands its digital capabilities, this forward momentum makes the need for robust digital infrastructure and rich network connectivity even more critical,” said STT GDC Philippines President and CEO Carlo Malana.according to a study by policy consultancy firm Access Partnership, the Philippines can gain an economic potential of P5 trillion by 2030 by fully utilizing its digital technologies, while e-commerce and mobile applications can generate up to P3.5 trillion for the local economy.
