Aperson cannot be in two places at once, but with technology, President Marcos was able to do just that. Even he started his trip to San Francisco for the Asia-pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 15 (Manila time), a hologram version of the Chief Executive spoke before leaders, technology experts, and other stakeholders thousands of kilometers away at the opening of the 2023 Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) on the same day.

In his speech, Marcos recognized the event's significance in developing the country's financial sector and other sectors that are looking forward to a brighter, digital future.

"It will serve as a global platform for sharing learning and cooperation, essential elements in nurturing an inclusive and sustainable financial sector," he said.

This year's SFF focuses on exploring the potential and challenges of using AI in transforming the financial sector and society, emphasizing ethical considerations and societal impact.

According to Marcos, the Philippines remains committed to fostering an environment that promotes collaboration and propels the momentum of its digital transformation.

He cited initiatives such as Go Digital Pilipinas, facilitated by the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), as one of the "many promising endeavors" aimed at keeping pace with the rapidly evolving information and communications technology (ICT) landscape.

Meanwhile, President Marcos said the Philippines is cementing its position as a digital innovation and entrepreneurship hub with a dynamic startup scene that holds immense promise.

"We invite you to look at these startups and explore potential partnerships to ensure our mutual growth and shared prosperity," he said.

He also recognizes the growing presence of digital banking and the importance of inclusive finance so that no one will be left behind in the Philippines' pursuit of progress and prosperity.

"That is why we are putting great emphasis on the digitalization of all cash flows regardless of amount or scale so that Filipinos can start building a digital profile," Marcos noted.

With this, President Marcos said the Philippines is ready to adopt new technologies to respond to the demands of regional and global challenges.

"It is for this reason that we keep our Fintech ecosystem open to collaboration with a wide array of stakeholders both domestically and internationally," he said.

"The Philippines, with its innovative spirit and openness to collaboration, is eager to work with you in seizing all the opportunities that lie ahead," he added.
