VP Sara: It’s not my ambition to run for president, VP

- By BETHEENA UNITE

Vice President Sara Duterte has no ambition to run for president in 2028.

"Hindi ko naman talaga ambisyon na tumakbong vice president and lalong lalo na ang president. Alam nyo naman lahat 'yan (It is not my ambition to run for vice president and especially, president. You all know that)," Duterte said when sought for reaction on the statement made by her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte on the matter.

"Sinabi ko noon na hindi ko gustong tumakbong president. Lahat ng ginagawa natin (I have said it before that I do not want to run for president. Everything that we do), we can only plan but it will be truly God's plan that will prevail," the Vice President said in an interview on Sunday, Nov. 19.

She was reacting to her father's advice for her not to vie for the presidency in the 2028 elections.

"Kung ako kay Inday, do not —huwag ka nang mag-ambisyon, Day. Anak kita, ibigay mo na yung bayan sa kanila (If I were I Inday, do not aim for it. You are my daughter, just give them the nation) and let us see what will happen to this country," the former president said in his television show on Nov. 16.

The former leader said him being the ex-president, Sara winning the vice presidency, and his two sons—paolo and Sebastian— being a congressman and mayor were already enough for their family.

The Vice President also made a comment on the current condition of her relationship with President Marcos, her running mate in the 2022 elections, saying they are okay.

"We're okay. Well, I believe that I still have the trust of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.," Duterte said amid the controversies on confidential funds and the alleged impeachment against her.
