Most Filipinos who are aware of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have expressed satisfaction with its overall achievements in the past three months, yielding a net satisfaction rating of +83, a survey conducted by the OCTA Research has shown.

OCTA’S “Tugon ng Masa” Third Quarter 2023 survey found that 89 percent of Filipino adults have heard, read, or watched anything about the AFP.

Eighty-five percent of Filipinos who are aware of the AFP were satisfied with its overall accomplishments, two percent were not satisfied, and 12 percent were unsure.

These translated to a net satisfaction rating of +83 (percentage of satisfied minus percentage of dissatisfied).

OCTA said the net satisfaction rating of AFP was highest in the Visayas (+93) and lowest in Metro Manila (+69).

The AFP’S net satisfaction rating was also highest among adult Filipinos in Class E (+85) and lowest among adult Filipinos in Class ABC (+73).

It also pointed out that those in the Bicol Region and the Zamboanga Peninsula were satisfied with the AFP’S overall performance.

Meanwhile, its net satisfaction ratings were lowest in the Ilocos Region (+67) and Metro Manila (+69).

OCTA also pointed out that the net satisfaction rating for the AFP ranged from +69 to +88 across age groups, with those aged 55 to 64 giving the highest net satisfaction rating and those aged 65 to 74 giving the lowest net satisfaction rating.

Rural residents also gave the AFP a higher net satisfaction rating of +92, compared with those in urban areas, who gave a +75 net rating.

Female respondents also gave the AFP a “high” net satisfaction rating of +87.

In terms of educational attainment, Filipino adults with no formal education or who have completed elementary school gave the AFP the highest net satisfaction rating of +91, while those with vocational education gave the lowest net satisfaction rating of +53.

The Tugon ng Masa nationwide survey is an independent and nonpartisan poll conducted regularly by OCTA.

“The survey results reported here are commissioned and focus[ed] on Awareness of and Satisfaction with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). These survey results are released as a public service by OCTA Research,” it said.

The Third Quarter 2023 face-toface survey was conducted among 1,200 adult respondents nationwide from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.
