1,500 NLEX personnel to be deployed during holiday rush
NLEX Corporation, the private entity operating the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), announced that it will be deploying more than 1,500 traffic, toll and systems personnel as part of its “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” program that will assist motorists during the expected holiday rush from Dec. 22, 2023 to Jan. 2, 2024.
The personnel will be designated to patrol the expressways, in coordination with local police, and assist incoming and outgoing vehicles at the toll plazas.
Emergency medical services and incident response teams will also be positioned at strategic places along NLEX.
NLEX Corporation President and General Manager, J. Luigi Bautista advised travelers from the Metro, who will be going to the provinces and vice versa to “plan their trips well” in anticipation of the traffic.
NLEX Corporation is expecting high traffic volume in key toll plazas, particularly in Balintawak, Mindanao and Tarlac on Dec. 22 to 23, and 29; Tarlac on Dec. 25 to 26, and Jan. 1; and Bocaue on Dec. 25 to 29, and Jan. 1.
As such traffic management teams will monitor the so-called “chokepoint areas” namely the Harborlink, Meycauayan, Bocaue, Candaba Viaduct, San Simon, San Fernando, Dau, Mabalacatramps and the Toll Service Facilities (TSFS).
The company added that all lanes are available during the aforementioned dates, with ongoing construction and lane along the mainline road of NLEX and Subic-clark-tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) closures currently suspended from Dec. 15 to 12 noon of Jan. 2.
Free towing services are also available at the nearest exists for class 1 vehicles from 6 a.m. of Dec. 22 to 6 a.m. of Dec. 24; 6 a.m. of Dec. 26 to 6 a.m. of Dec. 27; and 6 a.m. of Dec. 30 up to 6 a.m. of Jan. 2, 2024.
Its customer hotline (1-35000) and social media teams will also be fully manned to address public concerns round the clock.
NLEX’S toll plazas utilize a 100 percent RFID system, in line with the cashless toll transaction pilot run of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB). The company is reminding all motorists to avail of, and sufficiently load their Easytrip RFIDS for faster transactions.
