Eastern Communications to focus on ICT solutions in 2024
Philippine telco Eastern Communications shared that it plans to focus on developing its information and communication technology (ICT) solutions in the coming year.
In a statement, it said it will “continue to widen its ICT portfolio, including the newly launched CIXA Cybersecurity suite and the DDOS Protection offering in collaboration with Nexusguard (NXG).”
The Sophos Central Intercept X Advanced (CIXA) platform is a cloud-based security system offered to business enterprises as a means to mitigate data breaches, combat phishing activities and other software viruses, as well as block cyberattacks.
Meanwhile, its NXG collaboration for protection against Distributed
Denial-of-service (Ddos) attacks ensures clients’ access to online services and sites and its servers will not be flooded by disruptive internet traffic.
“Additionally, the company supports business operations and remote work through Google Workspace for Enterprise and Education in its latest Business Applications offerings,” said the firm.
In addition, Eastern Communications said it aims to “reinforce its data services by partnering with more data center platforms like Digital Edge, HPE DC Solutions, and EPLDT, to lay the foundation for a more interconnected society.”
This year, the telco celebrated its 145th anniversary as a longstanding connectivity and ICT solutions provider in the country since 1878. It was notably the Philippines’ first telegraphic services company commissioned by the Spanish government.
It also built the first data center in the country and was the first Philippines telecommunications company to receive the ISO 9001:2015 certification for business operations.
Eastern Communications’ Cocoordinators Atty. Aileen Regio and Vince Tempongko said their 145th year milestone signifies the telco’s “commitment to uphold its promise to deliver high-tech and high-touch solutions to Filipinos.”
“This milestone marks our legacy of linking lives—unseen but omnipresent; we experience these links in familial ties, in agreements among businessmen, in the very bond we each have to our country as Filipinos. We are proud to be the link that keeps families and businesses better connected,” said Regio.
"As pioneers of connectivity, we take pride in building the foundations of the Philippine telecommunications industry. Positioned at the forefront of change, we transform today's ideas into tomorrow's realities with our unwavering personalized service. With valued partners, we eagerly anticipate writing the next chapters of Eastern Communications for centuries to come," said Tempongko.
Currently, the firm is offering a wide range of ICT solutions to businesses including network, security, cloud, and connectivity. It has also partnered with the Globe Group and Infinivan Inc. on the joint Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) infrastructure project.
