Vin d’honneur: A global celebration of diplomacy and unity
-
The Presidential Communications Office is proud to announce a historic Vin d'honneur event, bringing together His Excellency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Marie Louise Araneta-marcos with ambassadors from 110 embassies around the world – including 41 non-resident ambassadors – in a celebration of diplomacy, friendship, and international cooperation.
The Vin d'honneur, an age-old French tradition, took place on Jan. 11, 2024 at the Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang Palace, adorned with sampaguita flowers and bahay kubo design elements; for the convergence of diplomatic minds, to showcase the rich cultural diversity that binds the Philippines with countries from all over the world. It served as a symbol of unity and collaboration among nations. Unity, the battle cry of the President’s historic campaign run, was on display with global constituents.
President Marcos exuded the world-renowned Filipino hospitality with a charismatic, yet disarmingly warm welcome to esteemed ambassadors and diplomatic envoys, harboring an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual understanding. The unique gathering brought about meaningful exchanges; to set aside differences, and to forge stronger alliances – with a united aspiration – for global peace, stability, and prosperity for all. The lovely night was highlighted by a gastronomic Filipino feast by Margarita Forés and topped off with a cultural performance by theater artists, El Gamma Penumbra. In essence, our international brethren caught a glimpse of what Bagong Pilipinas is truly about – a friend to all, and an enemy to none.
