‘Lowest temperatures’ recorded in 10 areas, including Metro Manila
Chilly weather continued to be felt in many parts of the country, including in 10 areas, which recorded their lowest temperatures on Tuesday, Jan. 16, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Among the areas, which experienced cool weather, was Metro Manila, with PAGASA’S temperature update noting that the Science Garden in Quezon City experienced a temperature of 23.2°C.
Meanwhile, the lowest temperature recorded was in Baguio City, at 13.0°C.
Other areas with the lowest temperatures were Basco, Batanes, at 15.5°C; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, at 19.0°C; Casiguran, Aurora, at 20.8°C; Dagupan City, Pangasinan, at 22.0°C; Davao City, Davao del Sur, at 22.8°C; Aparri, Cagayan, at 23°C; Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, at 23.2°C; and Romblon, Romblon, at 23.3°C."
This developed as the state weather agency also said on Tuesday that the shear line and northeast monsoon or "amihan" may bring light rains to parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
In its latest bulletin, PAGASA said the shear line---an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge---may bring Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region will have cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the rest of Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Moreover, in the rest of Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will be expected due to localized thunderstorms.
