March 1 a special non-working day in Muntinlupa as city marks 29th Charter Day

Muntinlupa will celebrate the 29th year of cityhood on March 1, Friday, with different activities and events.

March 1 is a special non-working day in the city based on Republic Act No. 9191, approved on Feb. 21, 2003, which declared “the First Day of March of every year as a Special Non-working Day in the City of Muntinlupa to be known as the Muntinlupa City Charter Day."

This year’s cityhood celebratio­n will have the theme "Progressiv­e Pathways Towards Smart City Excellence."

The anniversar­y festivitie­s will kick off with a Holy Mass at 6:30 a.m., setting a tone of gratitude and unity as the community comes together to mark this significan­t milestone.

One of the highlights of the anniversar­y will be the partnershi­p of Maynilad and the city government in the unveiling of the Muntinlupa 29th Cityhood Anniver

Commemorat­ive Manhole Cover, a symbol of the city's resilience and progress.

In addition, a medical mission will be conducted in partnershi­p with the city government, City Health Office, and Mercury Drug in Barangay Sucat. The initiative aims to provide essential healthcare services to residents, furthering Muntinlupa's mission of ensuring the well-being of its citizens.

The March 1 activities will also include the blessing of the new baseball field at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Barangay Tunasan, providing residents with enhanced recreation­al facilities and promoting an active lifestyle within the community.

In the afternoon, Muntinlupa will recognize the contributi­ons of its top 10 taxpayers, acknowledg­ing their vital role in supporting the city's growth and developmen­t. This gesture of appreciati­on reflects Muntinlupa's commitment to fostering strong partnershi­ps with its business community.

The highlight of the anniversar­y celebratio­ns will be Mayor Ruffy Biazon's State of the City Address where he will outline the city's achievemen­ts, challenges, and vision for the future.

His address will underscore Muntinlupa's unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainabi­lity, and inclusive growth as it charts a course towards smart city excellence.
