Celebrating Ramadan and 60 years of bilateral relations between Malaysia and PH
In a celebration of faith, unity, and longstanding friendship, the Embassy of Malaysia, headed by Ambassador H.E. Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, hosted an exclusive Iftar event for members of the media at Rumah Malaysia on April 3, 2024. This year’s event was not only a testament to the sacred month of Ramadan but also a commemoration of the 60th anniversary of robust bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Philippines.
The Iftar, or the meal with which the fast is broken at sunset, is a moment of joy and celebration shared with family, friends, and the community. It commences with the eating of dates, followed by a prayer and a meal. This tradition not only embodies the spirit of Ramadan but also fosters a sense of belonging and unity among participants.
The event provided members of the media with an opportunity to engage in cultural exchange, deepen their understanding of Islamic traditions, and partake in the breaking of the fast in an atmosphere of camaraderie and goodwill. They were able to savor an exquisite spread of traditional Malaysian Ramadan delicacies. In Malaysia, Ramadan is celebrated with people of all faiths.
This year’s Iftar event at the Embassy of Malaysia held particular significance as it commemorated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the Philippines. Over the past six decades, both nations have fostered a relationship founded on mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation, spanning various sectors such as trade, education, and security.
