The price of a new car is getting dearer these days, yet one of the new brands, Changan, is offering a welcome alternative: the CS15. This new model, unveiled at the recent Manila International Auto Show, is the brand’s newest small SUV, and is priced at just ₱799,000.

The CS15 is being put forward as one of the smartest choices in its segment, offering prudent car buyers an affordable new car in SUV form, with practicality and many of the features found in more expensive vehicles.

The CS15 offers style thanks to its modern styling and the many bright color options. It comes standard with LED daytime running lights, a sunroof, and stylish blacked-out taillamps. It features muscular haunches that house large two-tone 17-inch wheels, while satin silver roof rails and a sleek shark fin antenna add a touch of sophistication to its profile.

Inside the cabin, drivers are treated to a range of thoughtful features that prioritize comfort and convenience. It comes with automatic headlights with a follow-me-home function. Getting in the right driving position is easy thanks to height adjustment and its high driving position. Other features include including keyless entry, standard leather seats, and an infotainment system compatible with IOS and Android devices. The multifunction steering wheel also has remote controls for the infotainment system. There are also rear parking sensors with a backup camera.

Powering the CS15 is a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. This helps it deliver 105 horsepower and 145-Nm of torque.

The CS15 isn’t just designed for the city but will also please those with an adventurous spirit. It offers ample headroom and legroom, along with a rear seat featuring 60/40 split folding capability, allowing it to easily accommodate large or bulky cargo. Standard roof rails make the CS15 carcamping ready, capable of accommodating an awning or roof rack for outdoor adventures. With a generous ground clearance of 190 mm, a tire pressure monitoring system, and rugged design elements, including large wheels and rocker panels, the CS15 is ready to tackle light floods or venture off the beaten path with ease.

Changan was kind enough to give us a chance to test drive the car before its debut at MIAS. Over the course of the short test drive, the interior proved to look and feel quite luxurious. The cabin was remarkably quiet as well, muting most of the road noise. The ride was a quiet comfortable and even tight parking spaces were a breeze thanks to the very light steering feel.

When it comes to safety, the CS15 lives up to Changan’s motto of “lasting safety”, being equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, dual front and side airbags, child safety locks, and a suite of driver assistance features such as Hill-hold Control (HHC).

Besides the already appealing price of ₱799,000, Changan grants each buyer peace of mind with its 5-year (or 150,000-km) warranty and a complimentary checkup within the first 5,000-km.

No need to worry if you missed the CS15 at MIAS. The new model is now available in all authorized Changan dealers.
