The local governments of Quezon City and Valenzuela City are ready to provide “Libreng Sakay” services to commuters affected by the nationwide strike being mounted by transport groups on Monday and Tuesday, April 15 to 16.

In Quezon City, the Qcity Bus continued its operation while additional buses were ready to be deployed to ferry stranded commuters.

The Qcity Buses can be found in front of the National Housing Authority which also serves as the command post of the Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD).

Traffic enforcers from the Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), along with the personnel from QCPD, General Services Department (GSD), and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), have been deployed to major roads. They stand ready to assist motorists and passengers who may be affected by the strike.

Meanwhile, the city government said that their service vehicles, together with the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) e-trikes, as well as the barangay vehicles from 142 barangays in the city, are on standby in case residents need assistance.

Moreover, rescue units from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are also on standby to assist the affected passengers.

The city government reminded the public, especially the affected commuters, to seek help through the QC Helpline 122.

The Valenzuela city government also deployed several trucks to strategic areas in the city to help stranded passengers.

It added that some Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) continue to ply their routes amidst the transport strike.
