Love in Paradise
Laureen Uy and Miggy Cruz's dream wedding in Palawan
“It was really love at first conversation,” recalls content creator Laureen Uy as she reminisces about her first date with entrepreneur Miggy Cruz of Hungry Homies. “We really hit it off and never stopped seeing each other since then.”
The proposal was equally romantic. While traveling in the U.S., Miggy proposed to Laureen in Joshua Tree
National Park in Los Angeles, California. “He asked if we could drive somewhere to watch the sunset together, and little did I know he wanted to propose that day. He knows I love sunsets, and he wanted to do it during my favorite time of the day—with only a few friends surrounding us, just like how I wanted it to be.”
Their wedding was meticulously planned, with the couple choosing Club Paradise in Coron, Palawan, as their venue. “We booked the entire island to ourselves for three days so that everyone could get to know each other and celebrate our love,” Laureen explains, noting that they have about 180 guests who have been part of their lives.
Over the course of three days, the couple hosted a welcome dinner on the first night, serving Mexican food and tequila. “We wanted the set up to be extra fun and colorful, just like our personalities.” Laureen looked stunning in a gorgeous dress by Rajo Laurel, while Miggy opted for Maligaya Clothing designed by Roko Arceo.
The next day, April 15, 2024, the bride was a vision in a Vivienne
Westwood gown. Randolph Clothing was behind the groom and the entourage’s barong. Their wedding theme was inspired by the colors of nature— yellow for the sun, green to represent the trees, brown for wood and sand, and blues for the bridesmaids to symbolize the sea and the sky.
The celebration continued at the after-party, with Miggy’s “team groom” Magic Liwanag, Tisha Aganon, Joni Koro, Paolo Tinio, Diggy Alvarez, among others, while Laureen’s bride squad Kryz Uy, Patricia Prieto, Camille Co, Katrina Loring-bondoc, Nicole Andersson, and Lissa Kahayon.
