Hot, humid weather to persist in most of PH due to easterlies

28 to 29, the actual air temperatur­es in some key areas will be 26°C-36°C in Metro Manila, 26°C-37°C in Tuguegarao City, 26°C-33°C in Legazpi City, 17°C-26°C in Baguio City, 27°C-33°C in Metro Cebu, 27°C-33°C in Iloilo City, 25°C-33°C in Tacloban City, 26°C-33°C in Metro Davao, 25°C-34°C in Zamboanga City, and 24°C-33°C in Cagayan de Oro City.

Areas under dangerous heat index

PAGASA said a heat index of 48°C may be recorded in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, the fourth area that experience­d it since the start of 2024. As of press time, the forecast heat index has not been confirmed.

In Aparri, Cagayan, a heat index of 46°C was felt, while a heat index of 45°C was recorded in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Central Bicol State

University of Agricultur­e (CBSUA) in Pili, Camarines Sur; and Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA also recorded a heat index of 44°C in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo; Sangley Point, Cavite; Aborlan, Palawan; Virac, Catanduane­s; and Roxas City, Capiz.

A heat index of 43°C was felt in Ninoy Aquino Internatio­nal Airport (NAIA), Pasay City; Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Iba, Zambales; Clark Airport in Pampanga; Baler, Aurora; Casiguran, Aurora; Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Legazpi City, Albay; Dumangas, Iloilo; Iloilo City, Iloilo; La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental; Catarman, Northern Samar; Catbalogan, Samar; Tacloban, Leyte; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; Cotabato City, Maguindana­o; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

Meanwhile, in PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City; Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Tayabas, Quezon; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Daet, Camarines Norte; Masbate City, Masbate; Juban, Sorsogon; Mambusao, Capiz; Masin, Southern Leyte; and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte, a heat index of 42°C was recorded.

Meanwhile, over the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thundersto­rms due to the localized thundersto­rms.

PAGASA warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thundersto­rms.
