President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has turned over a check from the Office of the President (OP) for ₱80.9 million to Camp Navarro General Hospital (CNGH), the newly constructed medical facility of the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom).

Marcos made the donation during his inspection of the hospital on Thursday, May 9.

CNGH chief Lt. Col. Giovanni R. Falcatan received the check from the President.

According to Malacañang, the donation is for the purchase of equipment for the hospital’s operating room, diagnostics, ward, and physical therapy sections.

In a Facebook post, the President lauded the new facility, saying it would bring medical services closer to people in Western Mindanao.

“Lalo pang pinaganda at pinalapit ang mga serbisyong medikal para sa ating mga sundalo at kababayan sa Western Mindanao (We have improved and brought closer medical services to our soldiers and fellowmen in Western Mindanao)!” he wrote.

The recently completed building will serve as a Role III facility to deliver critical medical services and support for military and civilians under Wesmincom jurisdiction.

The CNGH, constructed in 1975, is located in Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.

It is a 50- to 100-bed capacity infirmary-level hospital that caters to soldiers, dependents, and authorized civilians who need medical, surgical, and pediatric services in Wesmincom’s area of operations.

The hospital is programmed to provide Role II functions to support Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Jolo, Sulu, which is also under the same command.
