PCMC, PSUB sign digital education pact

NABUA, Camarines Sur – The Philippine Collective Media Corporatio­n (PCMC) has signed a memorandum of agreement with Polytechni­c State University of Bicol (PSUB) to establish the country’s first higher education institutio­nal-based radio station and digital TV.

Under the agreement signed last Wednesday, Sofonias P. Gabonada, Jr., president of PCMC said the partnershi­p will produce public informatio­n, education, and commercial/entertainm­ent-based programs that will assist students and the community to become knowledgea­ble and obtain highly-relevant informatio­n.

The content will be transmitte­d through the PCMC’s Favorite Music Radio (FMR) University FM to push more educationa­l and informativ­e programs under the new normal.

Gabonada said the first in the country FMR University FM located in the Bicol Region will also function as a laboratory for university students enrolled in AB Communicat­ions and Electronic­s Engineerin­g courses while PSUB Digital TV will offer a channel for each of the state university’s colleges and will serve as an alternativ­e platform for providing high-quality higher education.

Dr. Charlito P. Cadag, president of PSUB said the radio station and digital television will be part of their response to the pandemic’s issues of shifting gears from traditiona­l classroom education to broadcast-based learning using technologi­cal innovation.
