Romualdez vows Congress will redouble efforts to serve people

- By Maricel V. Cruz

SPEAKER Martin Romualdez on Thursday pledged that he and the entire House of Representatives will redouble their efforts at addressing the most pressing concerns of the people.

The Speaker made the promise after the entire Congress gained significant trust and performance ratings in the latest Octa Research survey.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Filipino people for their continued support and trust in my leadership,” Romualdez said.

“This is not just a personal achievement but also a tacit recognition of the tireless efforts of the entire House and the dedication of my fellow lawmakers to pass laws and policies that benefit our country and our people,” he added.

Romualdez said while the House has delivered on its commitment to pass laws advancing the eight-point socioeconomic agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., he and the entire chamber will not rest on their laurels.

“I would like to assure the public that under my leadership, we will redouble our efforts to prioritize the needs and concerns of the Filipino people. We will press on for the timely passage of laws for progress and development and those meant to address the serious challenges that our nation face,” Romualdez stressed.

This developed as Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe, Reps. Elpidio Barzaga Jr of Cavite City and Aurelio Gonzales of Pampanga congratulated President Marcos for also earning high trust ratings in the recent survey of polling firm Octa Research.

“Survey after survey, we see high ratings for President Marcos Jr. and key officials of the government including our dear House Speaker Martin G. Romualdez. Be it satisfaction, approval or trust ratings, the Marcos administration consistently earns high marks!” said Barzaga, chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources.

The latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) Q1 2023 survey of Octa Research saw President Marcos Jr. obtaining a trust rating of 83 percent, while Vice President Sara Duterte, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo earned 87 percent, 50 percent, and 39 percent, respectively.

Speaker Romualdez obtained a 55 percent trust rating, the biggest increase in ratings from the last TNM October 2022 survey, with a hike of +17 percent. The House leader also got the highest gain in performance rating, or +15 percent, for the two survey periods.

“Speaker Romualdez’s high trust ratings are a genuine reflection of the hard work of the House of Representatives and its members. This will certainly inspire us to do more, strive better and work harder to serve the Filipino people.” Barzaga expressed.

The five government officials – the heads of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government – also scored high in previous approval and satisfaction surveys of Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations.
