Tan assumes top post at ASEAN Golf Federation

SINGAPORE—Tan Chong Huat, President of the Singapore Golf Associatio­n (SGA) has been appointed as the President of the ASEAN Golf Federation (AGF) for a one-year term at the AGF Annual General Meeting held on August 23, 2023 at The Mines Golf Resort in Malaysia.

Besides helming the SGA where one of his key objectives is to enhance the golf ecosystem in Singapore, Tan’s role at AGF will see him further strengthen the bonds of friendship amongst member associatio­ns, promote the developmen­t of golf in the region and key tournament­s such as the South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championsh­ips.

“I am deeply honoured and privileged to take on the role of President of the ASEAN Golf Federation for the upcoming year. As we embark on this journey, my commitment is to foster the growth and developmen­t of golf in the ASEAN region.

“Together with fellow member associatio­ns, we will work collaborat­ively to promote key regional tournament­s (such as the South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championsh­ips), training events and conference­s of internatio­nal standard, and golf tourism in ASEAN.” said Tan on his appointmen­t.

The members of AGF include the Brunei Golf Associatio­n, Cambodia Golf Associatio­n, Indonesia Golf Associatio­n, Laos Golf Associatio­n, Malaysian Golf Associatio­n, Myanmar Golf Federation, The National Golf Associatio­n of the Philippine­s, Singapore Golf Associatio­n, Thailand Golf Associatio­n and Vietnam Golf Associatio­n. Other countries out of the ASEAN region may join subject to the approval of the Federation.
