‘Aliens involved in crimes, beware’

-

JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Friday warned aliens involved in unlawful activities, saying the full force of the law will be applied against them.

Remulla issued the warning after the Department of Justice (DOJ) received a new set of criminal cases filed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) against Chinese nationals arrested for operating a prostitution den in Pasay City raided by the police on Oct. 27 last year.

The eight-page complaint was lodged by the PNP-Luzon Field Unit-Women and Children Protection Center against 26 Chinese nationals for serious illegal detention and various violations of the anti-trafficking laws.

A composite team of the DOJ-InterAgency Council Against Trafficking, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. and the PNP swooped down last year on the Smart Web Technology Corp. operated by the respondents in Pasay City, and rescued several prostitution and labor exploitation victims.

“Over the years, the Philippines has always welcomed foreigners with open warms demonstrating how hospitable and loving Filipinos are. However, it is the State’s responsibility to protect its citizenry when offending foreigners abuse the warmth embrace and generosity of our people,” Remulla said.

“The Philippines is no haven for sinister aliens, ensure airtight cases are filed against them,” he added.

It was the third wave of cases filed against Chinese nationals involved in prostitution and labor exploitation. Rey Requejo
