NAZARENE PROCESSION REPRISE

SAMAL, Bataan: Devotion to the Black Nazarene is no monopoly of the Catholic Church. Members of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente (IFI) or Aglipay in Samal, Bataan showed their devoutness to the black image in a procession on Monday before dusk. Rev. Father Jaime Enriquez, Aglipay parish priest, led the long procession around the town that started at the IFI Church past 4:00 in the afternoon. Joining the procession were men and women, with children, mostly in maroon-colored T-shirts. Men carried on their shoulders three big replicas of the Black Nazarene on platforms while some women carried in their arms small reproductions of the image. Aside from candles, portable electric generators were on standby for the night. A small group of brass band provided music to the devotees. After the procession, a Holy Mass followed.
