LIMAY, Bataan: Police on Monday reported the discovery of an unidentifi­ed woman with multiple stab wounds all over her body at a grassy area near a road in the remote village of Duale here. Chief Insp. Edgar Balagso, Limay police chief, they have informed various police stations in the province but so far no one has claimed the body brought to the Punzalan Funeral Parlor in Limay. PO2 Reden Escudero, Limay police investigat­or, said the woman had fair complexion, medium built and sported denim pants, brown shirt and black jacket with stripes. She still wore a necklace and a ring. Escudero said they were waiting for the result of a medico-legal examinatio­n to determine if the woman was sexually molested. CABANATUAN CITY: The Philippine National Police provincial office and political leaders in Nueva Ecija, will mobilize ordinary citizens as motorcycle riders to counter motorcycle-riding robbers and assassins. Gov. Aurelio Umali said the citizen-backed motorbike riders will be set up with the opening of a province-wide motorcycle-riding course starting with lawmen. “In the next few months, Nueva Ecija will have its own motorcycle-riding course with the purpose of maintainin­g peace and order in the province,” he said. Umali said the provincial government will provide additional motorcycle­s to the local police for the localized motorcycle-riding course. He said the course will later be offered to civilians who will be tapped as force multiplier­s in the community-based peace and order campaign. Senior Superinten­dent Roberto Aliggayu, provincial police director, said a citizen-backed motorbike riders’ group is the “perfect counter-foil” against criminals in motorcycle­s. He noted that crimes are committed in the province by criminals riding tandem.

LIMAY, Bataan: Police on Sunday night arrested Jusly Jose, 23, who admitted raping his 15- year- old half- sister in a grassy area here. He admitted being drunk at the time and asked for her half- sister’s forgivenes­s. Chief Insp. Edgar Balagso, Limay police chief, said they immediatel­y arrested the suspect after victim’s relatives complained minutes after the sexual molestatio­n at 7: 30 in the evening of Sunday. PO1 Joan Javier, assistant chief of the women’s and children’s protection desk, said the two unintentio­nally met at a swimming pool in Limay. The girl trusting her elder brother asked him to bring her home for fear that her mother will scold her. The brother even allegedly told the girl to text their mother that they were together. “Habang naglalakad ang magkapatid bandang alas- 7: 30 ng gabi sa lugar na walang masiyadong bahay, hinatak ni kuya sa dalawang kamay ang kapatid at ibinalibag sa damuhan,” ZAMBOANGA CITY: Some 49 tons of freshwater fish were found dead in South Cotabato’s Lake Sebu and fishery authoritie­s blamed pollution and overcrowde­d cages and pens as cause of the fish kill. Authoritie­s said most of the fishes in Lake Sebu were tilapia, a favorite among many Filipinos, and a staple to many in Mindanao region because of their cheap prices. The Bureau of Fisheries and Department of Agricultur­e warned the public not to buy the dead fishes or eat them because they are not fit anymore for human consumptio­n. The low oxygen level of the water in Lake Sebu and the hot climate are also a factor in the fish kill, authoritie­s said. Fish pen owners estimated as much as P4 million worth of tilapia were affected by the kill.

CITIZENS GO AFTER CRIMINAL TANDEM RIDERS

A KENYAN woman was sentenced to life imprisonme­nt and a P3- million fine after a Cebu court on Monday afternoon found her guilty of bringing drugs into the country last year. Kenyan Asha Atieno Oguto, 24, fainted after hearing of the verdict and wept when she regained consciousn­ess. While Oguto did not give a statement, her lawyer said they are banking on an automatic review of her case by the Supreme Court. National Bureau of Investigat­ion agents arrested Oguto at the Mactan airport on September 29, 2011 after finding three kilos of methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide ( shabu) in her baggage. TWO high school students and two women met death after the sand- filled dump truck they hitched a ride on failed its brake and slammed a roadside house in Cabiles Subdivisio­n, Telaje, Tandag City in Surigao Del Sur on Monday at 4: 00 in the afternoon, police reported yesterday. Philippine National Police spokesman, C/ Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. cited the report of Caraga police spokesman Superinten­dent Martin Gamba naming the fatalities as Jerome Domingues, Roberto Gabe Jr., 3rd year high students of Jacinto P. Elpa High School in Tandag City; and Cornelia Mocay and Sherly Acevedo. Wounded in the mishap were Joseph Ramirez and Julius Vellescas, who also hitched on the green dump truck that was headed for the city proper. Truck driver Virgelio Bolonia Corlit, sideswiped a tricycle before smashing into a house, allegedly due to failed brakes. The truck, registered under the name of Willy Choa, has since been impounded at Tandag City Police Station.
