PARENTHOOD is considered to be one of the toughest jobs in the world. It entails the life-long responsibility of ensuring your kids’ safety, not to mention the many life-changing decisions that may determine their future.
Celebrity mom Suzi Entrata-abrera admits the challenges of being a parent, especially being a working mom. “Parenthood is indeed the most challenging aspect of my life. Balancing work and parenting is never an easy task, but I believe I improve as time goes by. I can never be perfect, but I can certainly try to work on my goal of keeping my family happy and healthy,” she says.
With dengue outbreaks lurking around the corner, a mom’s job is made even more difficult as you worry about the health and safety of your children.
“In all honesty, the mere mention of dengue makes me feel uneasy. My husband had dengue a few years ago and I remember him telling me that his head feels like it’s about to split open from the pain. I hope my little girls will never go through that,” shares Entrata.
Even outside the rainy season, dengue remains a threat. And since it has no cure, preventive measures against dengue become all the more important. “I’ve taught the kids the importance of self-protection. They know that when they go to the garden or if we’re going to the park or other places outdoors that they should wear mosquito repellent,” she relates.
Because dengue can be fatal, Entrata recommends a few useful tips that other parents can follow to help ensure their kids’ safety, such as keeping their home and its surroundings clean and free from stagnant water—the preferred breeding place of mosquitoes that may carry dengue.
