500 KILOS FROZEN MEAT SEIZED IN CALOOCAN
THE National Meat Inspection Service ( NMIS) yesterday confiscated some 500 kilos of frozen meat products during a raid in three public markets in Caloocan City. Rolando Marquez, NMIS’ team leader said, his agency has been busy in conducting random inspections since December to go after tainted pork and chicken meat including those meat products that are not properly stored in the markets. In his report, submitted to the office of Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri, who has also sought the NMIS’ assistance to check on some local vendors and traders that are not observing proper storage of their meat products which could expose them to bacteria infections, Marquez said those raided were public markets in the city’s District 1.
IGGY NECROLOGICAL SERVICES ON FEBRUARY 7
MEMBERS of the House of Representatives is set to pay their last respects to their colleague, late Rep. Ignacio Arroyo of Negros Occidental as the Lower Congress would hold a necrological service this Tuesday. House Secretary General Marilyn Yap said that the service would accord all the wishes of his loved ones. “We are now preparing for the necrological services and just awaiting the instruction from the late Congressman Arroyo’s loved ones,” Yap said. In a television report, Arroyo’s legal wife, Mrs. Alicia Morales Arroyo said that the lawmaker who last January 26 in London, died of cardiac arrest following treatment for liver cirrhosis since last year, said that the remains are scheduled to be brought this Saturday. She was also quoted as saying that his husband will be brought to their residence in La Vista Subdivision, Quezon City for burial starting February 4 until 7 followed by necrological services at the House of Representatives on February 7.
