WORLD Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. said on Saturday (Friday in USA) that he would teach his foe, Puerto Rican fighter Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. a painful lesson.

The 29-year-old Donaire (27-1 win-loss with 18 knockouts) said that he was irked by Vasquez’s early comments saying that he is a certified coward, “I am ready because this guy ( Vazquez) is a braggart. I want to put him in his place. I was really angry yesterday and told him if you want to fight let’s do it in the ring,” Donaire told boxing website philboxing.com on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas USA.

But Donaire opted to cool down and just focus on doing what he has to do, “I have never been angry as much as I am now but I realized that I need to relax and just follow my game plan. I know I’m a little guy but I know I hit harder than him. I’ll teach him a painful lesson,” he added.

Capturing the vacant WBO super bantamweight title would give Donaire an opportunity to take on new opponents like Mexican fighter Jorge Arce and Cuba’s Guillermo Rigondeaux, who recently challenged him.

But Vasquez, the son of the legendary boxer Wilfredo Vasquez Sr., is as determined to win the crown, something that Donaire readily admits, “I think that he ( Vasquez) is very determined,” Donaire told examiner.com writer Frank Igor.” I think that he is a type of kid that gets better as he goes to that ring. I am going to be facing the best Vasquez Jr. coming to this fight; better than Arce fight, better than all the previous fights he had.”
