A MEMBER of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit ( CAFGU) engaged in jeepney robberies was caught by patrolling lawmen Friday night in Caloocan City.

Caharoudin Tuano, 29, barangay 176, Bagong Silang, yielded a handgun and is facing illegal possession of firearm.

Chief Insp. Rodrigo Soriano urged those who could have been victimized by the suspect to come out and file complaints against him.

Reports showed the incident took place around 7 p. m. inside a passenger jeepney along Phase 1, also in the same village.

Patrollers led by PO3 Renato Florentino and PO2 Ronald Ambatang were conducting routine patrol in the area when they noticed something bulging from the waist of the suspect seated inside the vehicle.

Wasting no time, they stopped the passenger jeepney and conducted the inspection, resulting in the confiscation of a .38 revolver with bullets in its chamber.

The policemen had asked for any document for the handgun seized from the suspect but he failed to present prompting them to place him under arrest.

“The suspect has introduced himself as member of CAFGU based in Mindanao but he failed to show proof of authority to carry firearm and ammunition which is a gross violation of R. A. 8294 otherwise known as illegal possession of firearms and ammunition,” Soriano said.

Chief Insp. Eduardo Villanueva, deputy commander of the Bagong Silang Police Station, was quoted as saying that Tuano was a notorious robbery hold- up suspect who was victimizing innocent people especially at Powerline Public Market, also in the area.
