EX-POLICEMAN DIES IN FIREFIGHT

BOTOLAN, Zambales: A former member of the Philippine NATIONAL Police, PO2 Ceasar Madu, thrown out of the service for AWOL died in a firefight amidst the special election here. PNP Director Senior Supt. Francisco Santiago was tipped by residents of barangay Santiago that they spotted Madu roaming around the barangay, asking around for someone who would buy votes. Santiago sent a team to accost Madu and his 10- man group. Madu and his cohorts ran away from the responding team. The chase took five minutes and ended in a shootout resulting in Madu’s death. Madu’s cohorts were detained for further investigat­ion. BAGUIO CITY: The city government has guaranteed P3,945,000 for prizes in the different contest sponsored by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc ( BFFFI). Baguio Rep. Bernardo Veragara has donated P2 million, while another P2 million is coming from the office of Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan. Amboy Guevarra, chief of staff of the BFFFI said, “the money is now with the city government and could be withdrawn by the respective winners upon presentati­on of necessary documents. “To help facilitate the release of the cash prizes, the BFFFI will assist all winners in securing all necessary documents for the release of their respective funds,” he said, “adding part of the documents needed is copies of the decision of the board of judges and certificat­ion that they are entitled to their respective prizes.”
