Bucket list in Excel

more difficult to climb—and I don’t think I can complete that,” he explained.

Still he wanted to climb more 8,000meter peaks. “The South Pole is also on my list,” he revealed. “It’s a bit difficult because it usually takes two months and hopefully I could do it with an all-pinoy team.” While climbing a mountain may be on many people’s bucket list, it has become Garduce’s advocacy to share his expertise and help train more mountaineers.

“I want to hold regular lecture series to train the next generation,” he said. “It’s one reason why I think it’s important to share my experience. I hope we’ll have more climbers and have a structure of continuity.”

He shared the next time he tries to attempt a new record, he hopes to bring an all Filipino team or at least another Filipino climber.

“Unlike when I was just starting out, more people are now into a more active and sporty lifestyle, so they are a bit more conditioned. All they need is the Basic Mountaineering Course, and know the right equipment.”

“I don’t actually call it a bucket list, but I do have a list in Excel form, where I put my plans. I even have it divided it into separate categories like sports, community work, environmental work, etc. When I think of something to do or a place I’d like I go to, I put it down.

“When I’ve done it, I highlight it blue. If it’s still in progress green—very organized person. Maybe it’s because I’m a project manager.”

Garduce had been working as an IT project manager for Procter & Gamble for the past 10 years and admitted that it remains his source of income to fund his mountain climbing and outdoor adventures.

He said he plans to take a break this year and will instead try kayaking in Palawan.

Because for now, all Garduce wants to do is relax and enjoy—and finish all his office work so he can plan his next adventure.

Being the official media partner of Romi Garduce in his expedition, GMA Network is set to air the most comprehensive coverage of Garduce’s successful summits in the special Pito Para sa Pilipino: The Seven Summits Expedition this month.
