Colorful: The Tod’s 2012 Sping/ Summer women collection
THE Tod’s 2012 Spring/summer collection for women is now in the country, and is all about color. Blues, yellows, greens, and pinks pop out from the Italian luxury brand, as showcased in a special event at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel.
Adding a touch of playfulness in a number of its classic designs, this season sees the iconic D-styling bags in magenta, turquoise, yellow and green python leather. A must-have, the brightly colored D bags now come in a soft natural finish and a contemporary silhouette, while a couple of pieces are toned down in earthy shades of snakeskin.
The classic Tod’s Shopper bags are also back for Spring/summer. Most popular for its functional yet very elegant look, the Shopper bag now comes in soft natural calfskin. The new material, matched with brand’s distinct craftsmanship, makes the color of the leather shine through, making the bag almost translucent in shades of white, beige and rose. Easy to carry, the Shopper bag features a shoulder strap as well as handles.
To suit the different needs of different women, the collection carries bags in various sizes. Focusing on functionality is the cream-colored Python Tote with blue and pink accents. Zeroing in on unique style are clutches and mini-shoulder bags both in shades of yellow, magenta and blue.
Meanwhile, the return of Tod’s Ago (needle) sandal is much celebrated this season. Revived by the label’s creative director Derek Lam, the style from 2001 retains the classic shape and flowing lines, with a bit of a modern twist.
“Tod’s is very proud of its history, that’s why they pull something from the past and make it stylish and up to date,” explained Flora Lee, the brand’s public relations manager for Asia.
The Ago sandals boasts of a rubber pebbled sole, expertly hand sewn to the calf leather. This painstaking process is the reason why the line is a limited edition for Tod’s, and can be had in beige, tan, white and blue gray.
Also included in this season’s shoe array are leather wedges with braided ankle strap and welted sole; the famous Gommino loafers in variants of gold or pink or blue snakeskin; and ballerinas in suede natural leather, available in rose, turquoise and yellow.
