LADIES, are plans for summer getaways already in the works?

If your answer is yes, then you’ve also got to get started in the style department to make sure you’re every bit fashionable all through those sunkissed adventures.

As luck would have it, ideas area already a plenty what with the launch of homegrown brand Plains & Prints’ Spring/ Summer 2012 collection. Held on February 8 at the White Moon Bar of Hotel H20, overlooking the beautiful Manila Bay sunset, the runway show welcomed once again longtime Plains & Prints muse Paula Taylor, and for the first time, featured an exciting collaboration with celebrated designer Rhett Eala.

Women at work

First to be presented for Spring/ Summer 2012 is Plains & Prints’ staple collection for the working woman.

“Plains & Prints is dedicated to creating versatile pieces that are stylish, fashionable, yet still wearable and appropriate for working women,” said fashion brand founder Roxanne Farillas during the event.

Paula Taylor agrees. The halfAustralian, half- Thai international model, TV personality, and brand new mother said, “Now that I’m a mother, I have less time picking clothes. What I want is to still look fashionable when I go out, even if I just picked what I wear from my closet. Plains & Prints has done that for me.”

It was hard to believe Taylor just gave birth to daughter Lyla in June. The sexy working mom wore a sleeveless short jumpsuit with playful prints of the famous Santorini, Greece stonehouses.

Summer in Santorini

The highlight of the 2012 Spring/ Summer collection is the Santorini line, which is also close to Rhett Eala’s heart.

“Santorini is a place in Greece that represents summer and freedom,” the designer said his inspiration. “The clothes in this set are very easy, in loose shapes, that still go with the Plains & Prints aesthetic.”

The rest of the line features fluid knee- length dresses, wide- legged pants, printed tees and rompers. The models wore these silhouettes in abstract prints, combining the hues of the sea and sunset— teal, pistachio, hunter green, sky blue and azure.

Eala affirmed, “Plains & Prints and I have the same goal, to provide women with more stylish options of clothes.”

Also showcased during the night was the Preppy Paris line, which is Plains & Prints’ version of Parisian dressing, using crisp and structured fabrics in fun colors of green, navy, orange, chambray and white. Also standouts in the line are knee- length dresses, and classic slacks paired with short and long- sleeved tops.

Other key looks for the season include the Laser Cut— perfectly tailored pieces that combine dainty floral accents with color- blocked outfits; Vintage Coral— retro glam fashion with 70s inspired selections; Water— a combination of prints and patterns from abstract watercolor paints; Bright Summer Dresses— monotone frocks in brighter- than- ever hues of blue, green, orange, yellow and pink in flattering cuts and silhouettes for various body types.

There is also the Neon Wave, for a punk-rock style from the 80s with pared-back shapes in neon colors, pristine white and galactic silver; Athletic Couture, upped sportswear using mesh and tulle to create modernist shapes and silhouettes; 50s Flare, revisiting the hourglass silhouettes and incorporating playful patterns and quirky prints; and finally, Fairy Tale, in blushing fabric, elegant feminine silhouettes, and enchanting details of fairies, wood nymphs and more.

The Spring/ Summer 2012 Collection is now available in all Plains & Prints stores.
