Quezon City eyes evacuation patients in flooded hospitals
PATIENTS confined at the University of the East-ramon Magsaysay Medical Center (UERM) and Delos Santos Medical Center which were swamped by floods can be transferred to the Quezon City General Hospital if needed, Mayor Herbert Bautista said.
Both flooded hospitals are located along Aurora Boulevard, one of the worst affected areas in Quezon City. As of Tuesday, the entire emergency ward of the UERM was flooded.
Bautista on Wednesday ordered QC General Hospital Director Antonio Cabigas to coordinate with the medical directors of the two flood- hit hospitals to find out if there is a need to evacuate patients. The mayor also wanted to know what other assistance can be given to the hospitals.
During a meeting with members of the QC disaster risk reduction management council, the mayor instructed Cabigas to make sure that assistance will be given to the two hospitals, especially in ensuring the safety of their patients.
“QC General Hospital is ready to offer its medical services to patients affected by floodwaters at UERM and Delos Santos medical centers,” Cabigas said. “State- ofthe- art na po ang mga medical equipment natin sa QCGH at may kakayahan na din po tayo na makapagbigay ng epektibong serbisyong medikal sa mga nangangailangan,” he added.
The city government will also be providing water and food to some of the patients affected by floodwaters in both hospitals.
Mariano said the city government will also provide burial assistance to the nine victims who died in a landslide in Brgy. Commonwealth.
