Mariel is still so in love

Reality show with Robin goes online on their wedding anniversary

THE whirlwind romance of TV host Mariel Rodriguez and action star Robin Padilla seems to be standing the test of time. Two years after the unlikely couple stunned the nation when they eloped in 2010, the bubbly lady is still very much the blushing bride.

“I love Robin so much,” Mariel gushed at a luncheon with the press on Wednesday. “He makes me smile and laugh. He gives meaning to my life. I thank God for all the blessings I receive, and one of them is Robin. Just thinking of him makes me smile.”

Mariel used the occasion to announce a unique endeavor, which will unfold on their second wedding anniversary on August 19. It’s a web reality show titled LOL: Love On Line, which will show their life as husband and wife.

“One of the reasons why we’re going to do it this way is because Robin is in ABS-CBN and I’m with TV5. It’s the only way we can have to have a show together,” she explained. “[We’re doing this]

dahil maraming naniniwala sa love namin, at para na rin sa mga hindi naniniwala, pati na rin sa mga nag

ju- judge. So ito, papakita namin sa inyo na puwede itong mangyari, na may ganitong klaseng love.” According to Mariel, they already have so much of their two-year relationship to show on the web—from their travels to exotic countries to everyday things such as mealtimes or even when she goes grocery shopping. “Dati wala akong pakialam sa housework or sa

kitchen,” Mariel laughed. “Ang collection ko

noon Chanel; but now bumibili na ako ng bone

marrow sa grocery!”

The show will also be up close and personal, and will also delve into the other side of marital bliss, when couples disagree. Mariel said their age difference, and Robin’s manly views versus her girl power takes on certain issues also cause them to clash.

“Siyempre may arguments din kami,” she affirmed. “And makikita nyo yon dito at makikilala nyo kami talaga ni Robin through this.”

When The Manila Times asked why they chose to do a reality show when other celebrities crave for privacy, Mariel responded, “We just want to inspire people.”

Pressed further on whether they can assure the public that they are themselves even with a camera following them around she replied in the affirmative. “My first job on TV was for [GMA Network’s]

Extra Challenge, and that’s a reality show so I’m really used to having a camera follow me around.

Si Robin naman he’s been an actor for so long so sanay na sanay na din siya dito.”

Mariel promises that their unguarded moments are real. No scripts, take twos, or put-ons. She therefore invites all their fans—as well as those who are cynical of their happy ever after—to log on to pinoyRealTV via www.ustream.tv/channel/pinoyrealtv come Sunday to experience “Love On Line.”

“In this modern world of exclusive dating and living in, I suggest taking the plunge when you know it’s love. That’s what I did, and everyday I’m living that life. This is my new life—being the wife of an action superstar, the wife of a Muslim. My new web show is about our differences, our similarities, our everyday life, and our journey together. The show reflects the world as I see it. And my world is Ro- bin,” she ended.
