Toyota breaks record sales in October

TOYOTA Motor Philippine­s ( TMP) on Monday said that they posted the highest sales in the automotive industry in October.

Based on the records of the Chamber of Automotive Manufactur­ers of the Philippine­s ( Campi), TMP sold 6,946 units during the month of October, another milestone for their sales record, after breaching July’s sales of 6,258, “the highest any manufactur­er in the country has ever registered in a single month.”

The manufactur­er’s year-to-date sales has reached 53,115 units, reflecting a growth of 17 percent compared to last year’s performanc­e. TMP thus cornered a 41.9-percent share of the market.

TMP claimed said that during the “record breaking run,” several models in the Toyota lineup also performed its best in terms of sales.

“The Toyota Vios sold a total of 1,659 units, the Innova with 1,521 and the Fortuner with 1,339 units,” the company said.

TMP also said that the locally manufactur­ed Vios is still the best- selling vehicle model in the country “while the Innova is still the most preferred commercial vehicle of choice.”

“With all these accomplish­ments in the past 10 months, Toyota is poised to win its 11th consecutiv­e Triple Crown taking the number 1 spot in the passenger car segment [ 17,068 units, 44.9- percent market share], commercial vehicle segment [ 36,047 units, 40- percent market share] and overall sales,” Toyota said.

TMP President Michinobu Sugata stated that “since TMP started its operations in 1988, it has been our sincere wish to provide Filipino with the best products and services possible.”
