INTERNATIONAL ice cream sundae shop Swensen’s is seeking to expand its presence in the Philippines by opening three more outlets in 2013.

Lizzie Guerrero, Swensen’s Philippines owner and general manager, said that the company is eyeing more outlets in the country, but they are very discriminating about the possible locations.

”We are very picky with the locations we want to open in, so we are just waiting for the right opportunities,” she said.

“Swensen’s has been a popular watering hole in our neighboring countries Thailand and Singapore.

Knowing that most Filipinos are born with sweet tooth, as well a discriminating taste of ice cream that is also value of money, we felt that Swensen’s will be a craze in Manila,” Guerrero added.

She said that they decided to bring Swensen’s to the Philippines because it was “love at first taste.”

“The feel of the restaurant has a striking resemblance to our brand, The Old Spaghetti House. As we found out more about the brand, we were drawn to it more because we shared the same philosophy we have with our own brands in that it focuses on ‘the experience’. In our frequent travels to Bangkok and Singapore, our family never misses a day without eating there,” Guerrero said.

She added that Swensen’s is unique because the brand’s products have the perfect balance of flavor, texture and sweetness.

Recently, Swensen’s introduced “The Ultimate Ricecream Sundaes,” which are five new delectable sundaes to satisfy a broader spectrum of customers.

These are Mango Sensation, Mango On- The- Go, Sticky Rice with Mango, Mango Hurricane and Mango Breeze Boat ice cream, which focus on all-time Filipino favorites namely, ripe mango and sticky rice.

“In line with Swensen’s Philippines unending quest to satisfy every customer’s pallete, we continue to expand our list of sumptuous sundaes offerings in gourmet- quality and at reasonable prices,” Ace Azarraga, marketing manager of Swensen’s Philippines.

“By putting ‘The Ultimate Rice cream Sundaes’ in the numerous of sundae choices in Swensen’s Philippines, we are giving sundaes fanatics and lovers the opportunity to enjoy a different kind of ultimate sundae experience,” he said.

Swensen’s outlets are currently located at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City and Eastwood Mall in Quezon City.

Established in 1948, Swensen’s opened his first ice cream parlor in San Francisco, California. Since then, for 64 years, more than 180 flavors of ice cream have been created and enjoyed by both young and old.
