Mandarin welcome for mid-autumn moon
THE annual mid-Autumn celebration of the Mandarin Oriental brought families and friends together to welcome the traditional Moon festival at the hotel’s MO Lounge.
The festivities, sponsored by China UnionPay, centered on a sumptuous Lauriat dinner, highlighted by an auspicious paai shan ritual to augur positive chi energy, a colorful lantern-lighting ceremony officiated by renowned geomancer Master Joseph Chau, and performances by the Chiang Kai Shek cultural ensemble.
Capping the night was the traditional fun Moon Cake game Pua
Tiong Chiu, a popular custom among the Chinese Filipino community, with each table vying for the grand Chong Wan prize.
Hotel Manager Oliver Kreuzer and lovely wife Jocelyn welcomed the guests headed by Feng Shao Lin, First Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Philippines; Dr. Bee Ching Ong, President of the Chiang Kai Shek College, and her husband, neurosurgeon Dr. Daniel Ong; media player and renowned journalist Jullie Yap Daza; young business tycoon Joseph Calata; China UnionPay’s marketing manager Sydney Hui; feng shui advocates the Fernandez family from the popular Yin & Yang Shop of Harmony at Mandarin Oriental and jewelers Marilou and Tony
Co, together with daughter and son Sherryl and Raymond Khosiking, who have just opened the newest Marilou’s jewellery outlet at the hotel.
Tin Hau’s master chefs did not disappoint discerning diners as Executive Chinese Chef Hann Furn Chen offered traditional and contemporary Chinese cuisine in a gastronomic Lauriat feast.
Always an exciting feature at the captivating Mid- Autumn celebration was the homemade oven-baked and snow-skin gourmet mooncakes. Guests simply could not have enough of the classic delicacy.
