A golden greeting
THE Sunday Times Magazine wishes the renowned and much loved fashion designer Frederick Peralta, a very happy birthday, as he proudly turns 50years- old tomorrow.
A true “Filipino Champion,” Peralta’s success story is one of passion and hard work, and began when he apprenticed for some of the ‘ 80s most illustrious designers.
A devoted student with a genuine gift for making magic out of fabrics, he soon represented the Philippines in two international fashion design competitions by the ‘90s, bringing home the first prize for both titles: The Asean Design Competition in Singapore in 1990; and the Internacional Concour des Jeunes Creatuer de Mode in Paris, France in 1994. He holds the honor of being the first Filipino designer to win these two coveted prizes in the fashion world.
Today, Peralta continues to be one of the country’s most sought after designers, with his once a year fashion shows, both here and abroad, always highly anticipated. With his name synonymous to elegance and impeccable taste, he has also branched out in designing items for the home, including a well-received beddings line at SM Home. His new line for men’s suits was unveiled at the recently concluded Philippine Fashion Week in October.
