Jenny from the Block makes her way to Manila
ON Monday, it’s Jennifer Lopez’s turn to entertain Pinoys. The sexy hitmaker behind the songs “Jenny from the Block,” “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” “Waiting For Tonight,” and “Dance Again” is performing for the first time in Manila and fans are understandably excited.
Often cited as one of the most powerful female celebrities in the world, Lopez is a true triple threat. She started as a dancer then pursued a career as an actress before releasing an album and becoming a recording artist. Although she’s had hit films that
include Out Of Sight, Maid in
Manhattan and Monster In Law, she’s had greater success as a singer, releasing seven studio albums and performing in sold out shows around the world.
Not content with her achievements as an entertainer, Lopez has also dabbled in fashion design film producing and most recently, as a TV talent show judge. I can’t say that I’m a big fan of her music—except perhaps for her very first single “If You Had My Love,” which I still think is her best—but I’m always up for a good show, and by all accounts, Lopez is an energetic and visual performer, committed to ensuring that her audience has a good time.
Helping to make the show a reality is major sponsor Vista Land, an acknowledged leader in Philippine real estate development. The company says Jennifer Lopez is a perfect fit as both are leaders in their respective industries. Like JLo, Vista Land caters to a wide market spectrum with its more affordable Camella, its upper middle market Crown Asia, and its highend Brittany brands, as well as other properties outside Metro Manila.
Manuel Paolo Villar, president and CEO of Vista Land, envisions “a Vista Land home wherever a Filipino may be in the Philippines.” The same can be said about JLo—a celebrity who is pervasive in the music, film, television, fashion and beauty industries.
According to Villar, “Vista Land’s approach to creating homes and communities is a comprehensive one, raising the bar for modern living by providing complete commercial and recreational facilities for its residents. We want to provide Filipinos with an experience they will never forget. Sponsoring JLO’s concert in Manila sends the message across to all Filipinos that Vista Land creates high quality homes.”
