Marijuana seized from Kalinga woman
CAMP BADO DANGWA, Benguet: A suspected drug courier with at least P550,000 worth of leaves in her possession was arrested on Thursday while on board a Baguio-bound GL bus at Sitio Talaka, Brgy. Agbannawang, Tabuk City, Kalinga province.
Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong, Cordillera police chief, identified the suspect as Merlyn Dangsoy Guimba, 28, farmer, a native of Brgy. Tulgao West, Tinglayan, Kalinga and a resident of Sitio Luyocan, Brgy. Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Guimba was found in possession of 22 dried bricks weighing about board a GL Transit bound for Baguio City.
Representatives from the Department of Justice, barangay officials and members of the media witnessed the listing of the confiscated
leaves in the police inventory. The leaves were turned over to the Kalinga Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for examination, while the arrested woman was turned-over to the Kalinga Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group (PAIDSOTG) for documentation and disposition and immediate filing of a case against her at the Provincial Prosecutors’ Office.
The operating troops were composed of Joint members of the Third Maneuver Co. of the Regional Public Safety Battalion led by Senior Insp. John Bangcawayan Cayat Jr., PAIDSOTG and the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office.
