PH entering period of economic prosperity
WITH its most recent developments and strategic investment opportunities in the middle of the economic slowdown, there is no question that the Philippines is entering a period of economic prosperity, according to a special presentation of Asia Business Channel (ABC).
Over the weakened, the ABC unveiled the two-part series dubbed as “The Philippine Moves Forward,” to key personalities from the public and private sector prior to its public airing on Channel News Asia in January 2013.
The first series of the program especially focused on energy and tourism, while the second part, which is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2013, will take the story further with a focus on finance and banking, construction, trade and industry, information technology and telecommunication, health, transport and logistics.
The program features the Philippines’ most influential business per- sonalities, high- level government officials and country ambassadors.
It is also headlined by the statements from President Benigno Aquino 3rd, former Energy secretary Jose Reme Almendras, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Philippine Investment Management Inc.’s Ramon del Rosario Jr. and businessman Jaime Zobel de Ayala.
The said personalities discussed the pervading air of optimism that is leading investors to look at the country with fresh eyes.
“The Philippines has had so much potential and still has so much potential, and now finally the potential is being realized,” said President Aquino.
On the other hand, ABC Country Manager Carleen Krug said that the eyes of the world began to look at the country, and it is imperative that the Philippines capitalize on investors’ renewed interest by presenting a clear picture of the strides that have been made in the country Mr. Aquino’s leadership.

“Under President Aquino’s leadership, the Philippines has begun to emerge as a dynamic global competitor,” she added.
Krug noted that investors are also responding to the good governance objectives that the administration has set.
“In creating the program that focuses on the positive things about the Philippines, we hope that our millions of viewers will take a closer look of what this country has to offer. We have not done this without your help,” she added.
The ABC country manager also thanked the President, Cabinet members and private the sectors who united in a common goal in showing the world that the Philippines has arrived.
For its part, Channel News Asia said that its viewers specifically requested more information on the business climate in the Philippines, which is why it is publishing the complete investment and business analysis.
It explained that the objectives of highlighting the Philippines’ economy to its viewers were to inform international stakeholders; highlight investment opportunities and business partnerships; support foreign trade; create awareness or renewed awareness toward the business assets; and brand the Philippines as a business and investment hub.
