Huawei completes Smart regional mobile network
INTERNATIONAL network equipment provider Huawei has informed Smart Communications Inc. that it has successfully completed the 90day post- modernization observation period of its “super-charged” mobile network.
“Huawei has fulfilled its end in helping Smart build the Philippines’ most advanced mobile network,” said Mar Tamayo, technology services division head of Smart.
Huawei is the network supplier of Smart for Visayas and Mindanao and the observation activity from July to September 2012 is part of Smart’s acceptance process.
The Chinese firm’s optimization engineers disclosed that the Huawei-built network consistently exceeded the standards and require- ments in all areas where the tests were conducted.
Huawei said that using an industrystandard “Drive Test Tool,” a series of tests conducted during the observation period reinforces the superiority of Smart’s mobile network across all key performance indices (KPIs).
“These KPIs are consistent with the standards set by local regulatory institutions and consistent with global benchmark standards,” Tamayo added.
The abovementioned criteria are also the same service quality benchmarks used by the National Telecommunications Commission, the governing regulatory body of the telecommunications industry in the Philippines, when conducting drive tests.
