Remote areas in Quezon get farm tools
LUCENA CITY: Farmers and residents of the three far-flung towns island of Quezon—Panukulan, Polillo and Burdeos—were given farm equipment by the provincial government of Quezon.
Gov. David Suarez himself went on a three-day island tour to personally evaluate the economic situation of the farmers in these towns, bringing with him a medical and dental mission team.
Suarez first went to Panukulan municipality over the weekend to hand over farm equipment to ARB Small Owner Cultivators and Agricultural Leases and toPanukulan Credit Cooperative in Barangay San Juan.
The farm equipment includes two hand tractors, two multitillers, ten push type weeders, one grain moisture meter, ten knapsack sprayer and one double pass rice mill.
Nebulizers and medical kits were also distributed to barangay health workers in the 12 barangays of Panukulan.
After this, Suarez immediately proceeded to the nearby Polillo town to turn-over same farm equipment to farmers of Barangay Libjo. The farm implements cost more than P1 million.
Also, a medical/ dental mission was held in Polillo town, giving free medical check-ups to 500 residents and free tooth extraction to 113 patients. BELLY M. OTORDOZ
