Garcia sees Donaire beating ‘Rigo’ by KO
TRAINER of the year Robert Garcia believes that Nonito Donaire Jr. would knockout Cuban fighter Guillermo Rigondeaux in just two rounds of their scheduled 12-round unification bout on April 13 at the Radio City Hall in New York City.
“In papers, everybody tells that he [ Rigondeaux] is the toughest guy around but I don’t think so. We expect [ Fernando] Montiel to be the toughest but look what happened to him,” Garcia stated in a youtube video posted on Donaire’s Facebook wall.
“Montiel suffered a knockout at the hands of Nonito in just two rounds, and I believe the same thing could also happen to Rigondeaux. We have the best team right now and we’re working as a family,” Garcia added.
Donaire is presently training in San Carlos City.
Garcia also said that Donaire’s speed and power have greatly improved under the tutelage of strength and conditioning coaches Mike Bazzel and Brian Schwartz.
“It’s going to be a great day on April 13,” added Garcia. “Nonito’s strength and speed and his fighting techniques have improved a lot.”
