Voting a breeze for elderly

IF elections were held everyday, Roldan Guillermo will go to his polling precinct without complaints.

After experiencing voting at the special polling precinct set up by the Commission on Elections ( Comelec) at the SM Manila, Guillermo, 75, said that he will vote again and again because voting at the mall is easier and more convenient.

“Maganda ang serbisyo dito kesa doon [ The service here is better than in regular polling centers],” Guillermo said.

Unlike in regular polling centers, there were no rowdy queues since only the elderly and disabled were allowed to vote at the special precinct.

Guillermo, who believes that his vote will make a change, said that he failed to vote in the previous elections because he was sick, but on Monday he “insisted to vote” despite his medical problem.

“Napakaganda, araw-araw man tayo bumoto, napakalapit lang e,” Guillermo told Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr.

Brillantes said that the pilot testing of the special polling precinct for persons with disabilities ( PWDs) and senior citizens

was uneventful. By 11: 30, all the registered voters there had cast their votes.

The Comelec chief said that the poll body is studying if they can use the same scheme for the presidential elections in 2016.
