Julie Anne is finally ‘In Control’

-

IT has been 10 years since singer-actress Julie Anne San Jose set foot in show business, and she has every reason to celebrate.

At an interview on Wednesday, the GMA Artist Management prized talent happily declared that on this milestone, she can - nally found her sound; decided on the direction of her career; and, within the next school graduate from college after juggling showbiz with schoolwork for many years.

It is therefore no surprise that San Jose will celebrate her anniversary in grand style with a major concert at the Kia Theater in Cubao’s Araneta Center. Slated on May 14, the date is just three days short of her 22nd birthday as well.

Produced by Dreamstar Events Management, the concert, aptly titled In Control, will be directed by Marvin Caldito with musical direction by Marc Lopez.

Supported fully by her own management team and GMA Records where she is signed, the concert is anchored on San Jose’s singing prowess, which has earned her a Diamond Record Award, selling 150,000 units of her eponymous album. Her single, “I’ll Be There” in fact remains the only by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI).

The artist’s second album, “Deeper ,” meanwhile received a Triple Platinum Award early this year, and was also named Best Selling Album at the 28th Awit Awards.

achievements all too impressive for someone so young in the recording industry, they only have to recall her single “TidalWave”— a song arranged by American producer Sidney Brown—which transformed her from a teeny bopper pop singer to a solo act to contend with.

No wonder the 21- year- old voice box was tapped by the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang- Aawit ( OPM) as Junior Ambassador, tasked “to represent and promote Filipino music to the young.”

Moreover, her music video for “RightWhereYouBelong” won at the MYX Music Awards in 2015, making her a consummate recording star all around.

Looking and sounding her best at this milestone, Julie Anne San Jose certainly has her career—and her life—on track.

“Masayang-masayapoako ngayon,” she humbly acknowledged, as she looks forward to the next decade of her shining star.
