22 tankers bag MOS awards in 97th PSL Meet
TWENTY-two tankers copped the Most Outstanding Swimmer (MOS) awards in their respective divisions in the 97th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series-Top 16 Swimming Championship held at the Diliman College swimming pool in Quezon City.
Weisenheimer Academy’s Marc Bryan Dula (boys’ 9-year), Marikina Aquabears’ Aubrey Tom (girls 9-year), University of the East’s Carmenrose Matabuena (girls’ 16-over) and Marikina Aquabears’ Marcus Faytaren (boys’ 14year) scored 50 points each in the tournament supported by The Manila Times.
Also bagging MOS awards were Palarong Pambansa multi-gold medalist Kyla Soguilon of Sun Yat Sen Kalibo (girls’ 11-year), Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh of Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Paranaque (girls 10year), Philippine record holder Jerard Dominic Jacinto of UE (boys’ 15year), Gian Daniel Berino of Joey Andaya Seagulls (boys’ 16-over) and Palarong Pambansa champion Rio Lorenzo Malapitan of Mindoro Megallodon (boys’ 12-year).
“We will continue guiding these kids. We want to develop them to be more competitive for our future international competitions. We have a busy schedule in the coming months both in international and local,” said PSL President Susan Papa.
The other MOS winners were Zab Eugenio of Club Manila East (6-under), Estelle Margaret Mendez of Makati Dolphin (7), Hanna Rafflyn Sales of Aquaspeed Sailfish (8), Kyla Fam Rikke Managuelod of Aquaspeed Sailfish (12), Charize Juliana Esmero of Joey Andaya Seagulls (13), Maria Andrea Hugo of Mad Barracudas Family (14) and Trinity Borason of UE (15) in the girls’ division; and Zildjian Zeus Villamor of Amoranto Swimming Team (6-under), Master Charles Janda of St. Francis Catholic School of Bataan (7), Yuri Acidre of Dapitan First Aquatic (8), Eirik Judiel Rivera of Aquaspeed Sailfish (10), Terrence Xavier Delvo of Dapitan First Aquatic (11) and Jo Lander Molina of UE (13) in the boys’ category.
UE collected 1,022 points to claim the overall championship crown while Joey Andaya Seagulls settled for second with 703 points and Cavite Sailfish woundup third with 605 points.
Rounding up the Top 10 teams are Diliman Preparatory School (430), Aquaspeed Sailfish (399), Marikina Aquabears (367), Univer- sity of the Philippines (281), Club Manila East (267), Susan Papa Swim Academy-Paranaque (259) and J-Force Swim Team (252).
More than 300 tankers participated in the competition including teams from Kidapawan City, Aklan, Cebu, Cavite, Quezon, Bicol, Laguna, Bacolod, Davao, Oriental Mindoro, Tarlac, Bataan and National Capital Region.
PSL is a national sports swimming association for Universities and Colleges accredited by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), internationally affiliated member of Federation of International Sports University (FISU).
