MAYOR OFFERS REWARD FOR STUDENTS’ INFO ON DRUG SUSPECTS

TUBAO, La Union: Mayor Dante Garcia of this town offered P2,000 reward to every high school student who can provide informatio­n on individual­s involved in illegal drug activities, assuring strict confidenti­ality on the informant’s identity. Garcia said during the anti-illegal drug symposium for high school students in Tubao National High School that the incentive is an extension of the reward system given to town policemen for every arrest of a drug suspect. Garcia gives P10,000 for every drug suspect arrested and 10 have been nabbed. He was one of the four alleged narcopolit­icians in the province earlier named by President Rodrigo Duterte. He denied the accusation, saying he strongly supported the presidenti­al bid of Duterte, confident that the proliferat­ion of illegal drugs would be solved. He said he was never involved in any illegal drug activity.

POLICEMAN FALLS IN BATANGAS BUY- BUST

CAMP MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas: An active member of Batangas City police, Police Officer 1 Randy Mindano, was arrested in a buy-bust on Monday. Senior Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag, police provincial director, said confiscate­d from Mindano were two sachets of shabu and his Glock 9mm pistol service firearm. Meanwhile, two shabu peddlers were arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEA) in a series of operations in Barangay Labas, Santa Rosa City in Laguna. PDEA 4A Director Jigger Montallana identified the arrested suspects as Mario Lotho, who sold 50 grams of shabu estimated at P120,000; and Rominer de la Cruz of Almoro Compound in Barangay Dela Paz, Biñan City, who was found with three sachets of shabu weighing 10 grams.

2 ‘ PUSHERS’ KILLED IN QUEZON

TWO suspected drug pushers, one of them a high- value target, were killed while their unidentifi­ed companion escaped after engaging a group of policemen in a shootout during an operation on Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Malabanban Sur, Candelaria in Quezon province. Senior Supt. Antonio Yarra, Quezon provincial police director, on Wednesday identified the two slain suspects as Roberto Silva, a high- value target, and Jessie Silva of the same barangay ( village). Yarra said seized from the slain suspects were two caliber 45 pistols, a shotgun, four plastic sachets of dried marijuana leaves and a dozen plastic sachets of shabu valued at P74,000. He added that Roberto is the alleged leader of the Morado gunrunning group and he was the main suspect in the killing of Police Officer 1 Ramil Rodriguez in Candelaria town on September 21.

2 NABBED FOR GUNS, DRUGS IN LAGUNA

TWO men, one of them under a police drug watch, were captured on Tuesday by Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives and local police during an operation in Barangay Bultong in Cabuyao City, Laguna. Senior Supt. Rex Anongos, CIDG-Southern Tagalog regional chief, identified the arrested suspects as Luisito del Rosario Santos, alias “Set Del Rosario” and Carlos Tan alias “Tubal.” Seized from the suspects were a plastic sachet of shabu, a hand grenade, ammunition for a caliber 45 pistol, lighter and P2,200 in cash.
