CEBU ROAD RAGE SUSPECT SET TO SURRENDER

BUSINESSMA­N David Lim Jr. will submit himself to authoritie­s on Tuesday after he was linked to a road rage incident in Cebu City, Special Assistant to the President Christophe­r “Bong” Go said on Monday. In a text message sent to reporters, Go bared the family’s decision after Lim’s mother asked for help in facilitati­ng her son’s surrender to Police Regional Office- Central Visayas Director Noli Taliño. Lim is the primary suspect in a shooting incident in Cebu City and has been placed on immigratio­n lookout bulletin, a day after he shot a nurse over a traffic altercatio­n. Another motorist who witnessed the shooting incident released a video showing how Lim shot Ephraim Nuñal, 33, a nurse who came from his duty in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City early Sunday morning. The victim, who is now in stable condition, suffered gunshot wounds in the left thigh and right ankle, according to reports.

3 NABBED WITH GUN, SHABU

THREE persons were arrested for shabu and firearm with several ammunition after personnel of Parañaque City ( Metro Manila) Police Office served a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Noemi Balitaan, Executive Judge of RTC Branch 258. Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo identified the arrested suspects as Rommel, Ronnie and Juland, all surnamed Candelario. Recovered during the operation were a caliber 45 pistol, six live ammunition for caliber 45, several live ammunition for various gun calibers and three sachets of shabu.

DENR TO PROBE DEATH OF PANGOLINS

BACOLOD CITY: The Department of Environmen­t and Natural Resources ( DENR) is investigat­ing the death of 15 pangolins whose carcasses were found in Barangay 2 here last March 17 in several plastic bags. The Community Environmen­t and Natural Resources Office ( Cenro)- Bago City said a resident brought home one of carcasses to be cooked but returned it after learning that it is illegal to consume it. Al Orolfo, DENR- NIR Al Orolfo said he has tasked their agency’s enforcemen­t unit to intensify its monitoring of main ports for the entry of endangered species. Oroflo believes the pangolins came from Palawan as they are not endemic to Negros island. Pangolins and anteaters are included under Appendix I of the Convention in Internatio­nal Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

MANHUNT ON FOR POLICEMAN’S ASSAILANTS

TARLAC CITY: Acting Mayor Genaro Mendoza has ordered a manhunt for killers of a police officer on Saturday in light of a sustained peace and order campaign here. Police Officer ( PO) 3 Ruben Cortez was gunned down while PO3 Gerald dela Vega was wounded after unidentifi­ed assailants ambushed them in Barangay Paraiso here. The victims were on patrol aboard their service vehicle around 3 p. m. when the suspects who came from behind stopped, with one of the assailants alighting from the getaway car and firing shots at them. Cortez died from multiple gunshots while dela Vega was able to drive the service vehicle and escaped, although wounded. Recovered from the crime scene were two cartridge cases of caliber 45, four cartridge cases of carbine, and nine cartridge cases of M16.
