Pinay bowlers in South Korea for training camp

THE national women’s bowling team is currently in Seoul, South Korea for a 10-day training camp as part of its preparatio­n for the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 19 to 31.

Philippine Bowling Federation (PBF) Secretary-General Alex Lim said the camp was organized by the Korean Bowling Congress that started last May 11 and will end on May 21.

The women’s team is composed of Liza del Rosario, Alexis Sy, Krizziah Tabora, Lara Posadas and Maria Arle and they are accompanie­d by coaches Biboy Rivera and Jojo Canare.

After the Korea training camp, the Philippine women’s team will also compete in the ongoing Philippine Internatio­nal Open Tenpin Bowling Championsh­ip in Mandaluyon­g City, which started last Saturday and will run until May 28.

Australian, Indonesia, Guam and Hong Kong are among the foreign teams competing in the Internatio­nal Open.

The PBF, meanwhile, is eyeing to surpass its two-bronze medal output in the last SEA Games in Singapore. The bronze medals came from women’s trio of Alex Sy, Maria Arles and Lara Posadas and the women’s team composed of Sy, Posadas, Arles, Krizziah Tabora, del Rosario and Liza Clutario.

“We’re optimistic that our bowlers will surpass the two bronzes in the 2015 Singapore SEA Games but we don’t want to make any prediction­s. We’re just doing our very best to prepare them for the upcoming SEA Games,” said Lim.
